THE GREAT EXCHANGE; FROM ONE OBJECT TO ANOTHER

As I read through these text, I continued to have recurring thoughts about the fall (Genesis 3:1-8), suppressing the truth(Romans 1:18), and the Gospel of God(Romans 1:1 ; Romans 1:9 ; Romans 1:16)

During my lunch hour at work, I was reading through my M'Cheyne daily bible reading, and I came across Psalms 14:1 and Romans 1:16-2:11. As I read through these text, I continued to have recurring thoughts about the fall (Genesis 3:1-8), suppressing the truth(Romans 1:18), and the Gospel of God(Romans 1:1 ; Romans 1:9 ; Romans 1:16). As fallen image bearers, man is prone to suppressing the truth in unrighteousness, and this suppression takes many forms. Paul lays out God's indictment against man and the subsequent progression that follows, to which is unequivocally obvious to us today. As a matter of fact, turn on the TV, visit a news app, and radio station, and in moments, you are drowning in this indicted proof.

The reality is, prior to conversion "In Christ," this suppression is the state of man period. As justified believers, we're not exempt from suppression of the truth, however, we have the Holy Spirit who brings our suppressions of the truth to light fostering confession and repentance. At the core of this suppression, lies the lie(did you pick up on the wordplay?)of the great exchange(Romans 1:23-25);exchanging the Truth of God for a lie, and WORSHIPED and SERVED the creature
rather than the creator. And there it is, the exchange of an incorruptible image(which we were made in) for a corruptible one(subject to creation).

This adverse transaction had cosmic consequences. This is the reason why man looks to himself and things created to propogate meaning, feeling, purpose, and pleasure. When things "feel" bad, wrong, and discouraging we look to everything under the sun instead of the creator. At the end of every pursuit that man seeks is himself, not God. Hello book of Ecclesiastes! At the root of every sin; addiction, shame, ungodly guilt, depression, and everything else man copes with and through, is a result of a worship problem, the result of the great exchange. The Gospel of Jesus Christ(The God Man) reverses that transaction and restores the equity in the object of man's worship. Not to minimize anyone’s struggle or oversimplify the point, I’m saying the suppression of the truth affects the whole man, mind, body, and spirit. There is no part of man that isn't affected by this suppression of the truth. This sounds hopelessly bleak, granted, but the most encouraging response to this truth is life changing, literally. The Gospel of God is the response our hearts need. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is what restores that truth we exchanged for the lie of idolatry;worshiping creation rather than the creator, God.
**Be Encouraged**
-Our object of Worship determines our chief end- Christ likeness or ME-likeness.
-God's power is revealed in the Gospel-let Him restore that incorruptible image***
